Read-a-Thon - Aug. 21 - Sept. 1 - Watch your student's backpack or your email for details concerning this fundraiser. The proceeds for this fundraiser will be split between the school (money to be used for a presentation system in the cafeteria) and the library (money to be spent for visiting author or illustrator, makerspace materials, and / or more library books.

Wildlife Trunk - Bats a Billion - Nov. 14th - All things bats will be set up in our library for the students to explore.
Battle of Book Club - This is a book club for 3rd and 4th graders. Five books will be read and discussed throughout the year in an afternoon club atmosphere. There will be a school competition and a district competition to decide the MISD Elementary Battle of Book Championship. Click below for information.
Students in kinder may have one book checked out at a time. Students in grades 1-4 may have two books checked out at a time. All books may be checked out for one week, and may be renewed on an as needed basis.
Classes visit our library weekly for instruction and checkout. Students may utilize our Open Check Out program which allows students the flexibility to visit the library individually on a more frequent basis.
Parents, please help to ensure your child is a good library citizen and returns his/her book on time.

Battle of the Books Club is for 3rd and 4th graders. The students will have 5 books to read. The club meets bi-weekly throughout the year. Information will be coming out soon for the 2016-2017 Battle of the Books Club.
Important Book Lists
The Bluebonnet Book list is sponsored by the Texas Library Association. There is a list of 20 book nominations. Third and Fourth grade children across the state of Texas vote for the book to win the Bluebonnet Award.
The 2x2 reading list is also sponsored by the Texas Library Association. This list is for children from age 2 - Second grade.
